Yarrowia lipolytica (GCA_000002525.1)

Yarrowia lipolytica Assembly and Gene Annotation

About the Yarrowia lipolytica genome

Yarrowia lipolytica is a yeast belonging to the Ascomycota which can be found in a range of natural environments from foodstuffs to oil fields. Yarrowia can use a wide variety of carbon sources, and hence has a variety of industrial applications.

Assembly

Yarrowia lipolytica has a haploid genome of approx. 20Mb in 6 chromosomes and has been sequenced by the Genolevures Consortium. The current assembly has been loaded from the records for the submitted INSDC genome assembly GCA_000002525.

Annotation

Gene models have been created using on feature annotation from the corresponding INSDC records submitted by the Genolevures Consortium. Non coding RNA genes have been annotated using tRNAScan-SE (Lowe, T.M. and Eddy, S.R. 1997), RFAM (Griffiths-Jones et al 2005), and RNAmmer (Lagesen K.,et al 2007); additional analysis tools have also been applied.
