Known protein coding

First-pass gene prediction and computational annotation was carried out by the Broad Institute. A second pass was carried out by TIGR (renamed the JCVI). Several programs were used by TIGR to aid in the functional assignment of a predicted gene: i.e., NAP, BLASTP, InterProScan, HMM2, PrositeSearch, Psort, SignalP and TMHMM. A third round has been undertaken by a group of experts via a European Consortium, namely Eurofungbase. In this case, many gene structures and/or annotations were corrected manually. For the remainder, information was transferred from A. fumigatus and A. nidulans orthologues where possible.
